2 Chainz to Seek Highest Office

At a news conference Wednesday in Atlanta, poet and entrepreneur 2 Chainz announced that he would formally join a soon-to-be crowded GOP primary field in the race for the presidential nomination.

“They ask me what I do, and who I do it for,” said Mr. Chainz. “I’m doing this for the millions of Americans who deserve true leadership.”

When asked what made him a viable Republican candidate, Mr. Chainz replied, “I’m different.”

Chainz plans to run on a robust economic platform that includes reining in out-of-control government spending, reforming the tax code by reducing marginal tax rates by 20 percent across-the-board in a revenue-neutral manner and investing in federal infrastructure.

“A free economy and strong communities honor the dignity of every person, rewarding effort with justice, promoting upward mobility, and building solidarity among citizens,” said Mr. Chainz, who was accompanied by his newly-hired campaign manager, Lil’ Boosie.

“I don’t think a party can aspire to be the majority party if it’s the old white guy party. We need to bring the party, if we want to be the party,” said Mr. Chainz.

Most of the mainstream public seemed genuinely shocked by Chainz’ announcement, but many conservative insiders anticipated the move.

“He’s definitely a challenge to the establishment, and I think the party will be better for it in the long run,” said Michael Squamish of the Heritage Foundation.

After yelling “2 CHAAIINNNZZ!” to signal the end of his first press conference, Mr. Chainz boarded his private jet to travel to Iowa to meet with potential fundraisers.

The winner of the “Reese’s Perfect Combo” award at the BET Hip Hop Awards, 2 Chainz hopes to run on his legislative record and maverick tendencies.

“I have no legislative record. And that may be actually better than many of the other candidates’ legislative records when you think about it,” said Mr. Chainz.
