What is your advice for entrepreneurs?
Entrepreneurship has become a lifestyle, according to Dan Bova. More and more people understand what that means. And one of the cool things about his job, Bova said, is that he gets to talk to so many entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. It really depends on the person that is going to work for them. It is very individualized.
What have you learned from your career in media?
Media is where Bova started off. He actually went to film school. What he learned was that you have a nugget of passion inside you but you do not really know where it is going to take you. But you find yourself in all different kinds of places, and you find out what you like and what you dislike and you navigate different waters. The ultimate thing that Bova can say is to not try to convince yourself that you want to do something or that you don’t want to do something. As corny as it sounds: Follow your heart.
What is a tip for creating a path of one’s own?
Bova said it really comes down to following and trusting your instincts and your passions. Even if it sounds a little rote, follow what you actually like doing. Try to get paid for doing what you love and what you enjoy doing. Bova said that is the number one thing.
What does your typical day look like?
Bova has a 12-year-old and a 15-year-old, so he tries to wake up 20 minutes before he has to so he can have a little bit of time to himself. Even though he is not a morning person, he said he feels that we all kind of have to be sort of a morning person if we want to have a little bit of extra time to ourselves.
