It is always helpful to have some guidance when starting something new, and the Y Combinator Startup School was created just for that. Creating and managing a startup can be incredibly difficult to handle, especially if you have never attempted one before. Even if you have just started considering it, it’s difficult to figure out where to begin.
What is it?
Y Combinator Startup School is a program focused on teaching people how to create successful startups. The program is held on Tuesday and Thursday of every week for a length of 10 weeks. Tuesday consists of one-hour lectures, while Thursday consists of office hours that will provide feedback to the class. Each lecture has a different focus, covering a range of topics from why you should start a startup to how to succeed long-term.
How can I participate?
You can either participate as a spectator or a startup founder. A spectator is someone who is interested in learning about the process of creating and managing a startup but is not actively working on a startup. A startup founder would be someone or a team of people who are actively pursuing their startup and looking for guidance. Participating as a startup founder also means you will have a group of students, as well as an Advisor, and you will have to check in with them weekly.
For startup founders, there is a minimum commitment of three hours per week, consisting of one hour of lectures, one hour of class office hours, and one hour of group office hours. As a spectator, there is a commitment of two hours per week consisting of lectures and class office hours.
