It is safe to say that since Biden became president, prices at the pump have been crazier and more volatile than a romantic relationship with Amber Heard. Inflation is at a 40-year high across the board and gasoline prices are up almost 60% compared to Trump’s final year in office. However, it should come as no surprise that gas prices have risen under Biden’s administration.
During his 2020 presidential campaign, Biden famously told a gathering of supporters, “I guarantee you, we’re going to end fossil fuels.” Then, upon assuming office, Biden halted the issuance of new oil and gas leases on federal lands and waters. This was in addition to the cancellation of the Keystone pipeline, which could have delivered up to 830,000 barrels of oil per day.
Instead of supporting America’s energy providers, the President chose to make the US more dependent on oil from Saudi Arabia and other OPEC nations so that he could appease the radical “Green New Deal” crowd. The President’s decision, however, has dramatically backfired, and now we all have to pay the price. Literally.
OPEC’s “Hostile” Act
OPEC recently announced that they will reduce oil output by 2 million barrels per day. This means that gasoline prices, which are already flirting with all-time highs, are set to increase further.
If you recall, it was just a few months ago when President Biden traveled to Saudi Arabia begging them and OPEC to increase oil production. America’s 79-year-old President came off looking more sad and desperate than a simp with an Only Fans account but it turns out that his gestures to the Saudi Kingdom were in vain.
The Biden administration is enraged by OPEC’s decision, which it describes as a “hostile act.” But the fact is that we would not have to deal with the ramifications of OPEC’s policies if we simply stopped being hostile to our own energy producers. Due to the Biden administration’s fealty to the agenda of the anti-fossil-fuel radicals, Americans are going to pay an exorbitant price at the pump. This is unconscionable.
It is time to shift course. The President should immediately open additional US lands and waterways to oil drilling and pursue policies that incentivize, rather than discourage, domestic oil production and refinement.
