The world of entrepreneurs has been dominated by men for a long time, but Girl Starter has plans to change that. The multimedia entertainment company just recently launched a TLC reality show, giving young women the tools they need to become successful business leaders.

What is Girl Starter?

Girl Starter promotes, teaches and funds the next generation of female business leaders. Its mission is to educate young women and give them the power to reach their potential. The company is working on creating a strong online community and “game-ified” apps to supplement their new reality television series. The company is sponsored by Visa, Vera Bradley, Microsoft, Air Force, Pilot Pen and Klarbrunn Sparkling Water.

The Girl Starter reality television series recently premiered on TLC on April 28, 2017, and has already received great reviews.

About the show

The show’s objective is to encourage young women to build their own businesses. Contestants on the show range from ages 18 to 24, and they are competing for at least $100,000 to fund their businesses. The contestants come from all different parts of the country and are in different stages of running or creating their businesses.

The show features investors and business leaders who teach the contestants about running a business and gives them the tools they need to help make their dreams become a reality.

Empowering young women to become business leaders through reality television shows such as Girl Starter could be a huge step toward changing the dynamic of the business world.

Women are stepping up

There have been  countless articles in the past that highlight the reasons why women are not as “ambitious” or “successful” as men when they attempt to start their own businesses. But rather recently, surveys and statistics have shown otherwise.

According to the 2016 BNP Paribas Global Entrepreneur Report, researchers found that almost 90 percent of women entrepreneurs expected their company’s gross profits to increase or remain stable in the next year. The study also suggested that women have become more ambitious and successful than their male counterparts.

Takeaway

In an industry dominated by men, women are climbing up the ladder. Creating not only a company but also a reality television show is a great way to reach young women around the country and inspire them to start their own businesses. The world is changing, and companies like Girl Starter are incredibly important because they give young women the tools they need to become successful in the future.
