Millennial healthcare often means battling with health insurance companies and how to afford it. But for some, it means bringing awareness and ending the world hunger crisis. Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger-relief organization. Their mission is to end hunger across the globe by the year 2030.

The plan

As an organization, they believe in mass mobilization and have a few different approaches to ending hunger. They start with feeding people and families that are hungry. They continue to make a change by helping communities become self-sufficient in growing their own food and fostering agriculture. The food they deliver to those in need is all prepared by volunteers. All the meals they make have 23 essential vitamins and nutrients. This is to ensure the recipients are getting the most out of their food. The result of providing these meals is that children are more likely to keep attending school, parents start looking for new jobs or trades and they also help keep the community healthier.

This organization also enriches communities. They offer community-empowerment programs for adults and, to encourage enrollment in school, food handouts are located in education buildings. They do this because it promotes change within a community. It’s not enough to just hand out rice. Rise Against Hunger recognizes this and that’s why they believe in leaving a community self-sufficient, so they can continue to feed themselves and create a local economy.

Takeaway

Rise Against Hunger is a unique and powerful form of hunger relief. Since its start in 1998, it has only continued to grow. With an enormous volunteer base, crisis relief and community enrichment programs, it is working toward its goal of no world hunger by 2030. With 560,952 meals packaged this week alone and being sent to 74 countries, they will continue to make a larger impact and hopefully meet the goal of finally solving the crisis of world hunger. Millennial healthcare for this organization means ensuring the next generation never has to go hungry.
